“Johny” is a unique musical instrument crafted by DustBowl Cinematic. “The name for this extraordinary bowed instrument, ‘Johny,’ was inspired by the movie ‘Johny took his gun’.”
“Johny” was constructed from the shell of a missile, giving it a distinct and powerful appearance. But it’s not just the instrument’s visual appeal that makes it special. To enhance its sonic capabilities, an extra resonator was added inside a military helmet, positioned above the musician playing the instrument. This addition expanded the instrument’s sonic range and created a sound unlike any other.
Dust Bowl Cinematic partnered with Audio Brewers to create a library of samples for this remarkable instrument, which they named “Peace.” Audio Brewers described “Peace” as one of their most beautiful and meaningful projects, and it’s easy to see why. The meticulous sampling process captured every nuance of “Johny’s” unique sound, allowing musicians to bring this one-of-a-kind instrument into their music productions.
Developed in several stages, “Peace” is the result of an exhaustive design and craft process, followed by the careful identification of its best sonic spots, and finally, the sampling and mixing of its sounds using Audio Brewers’ immersive techniques. The result is a truly awe-inspiring musical instrument that will leave a lasting impression on all who hear it.
